Request for an Increase in Doctoral Scholarships at the Doctoral School of UKEN in Kraków

Dear Colleagues, Dear All,

As the Doctoral Student Council, representing our common interest, at the beginning of April we initiated efforts aimed at commencing work on introducing increases in doctoral scholarships.

In this matter, we have already held a meeting with the Rector, during which we presented the actual financial situation of doctoral students, also discussing it in the context of the suspended legislative work on the law intended to regulate scholarship rates in the future. We wish to emphasize that our initiative was met with great openness and a warm reception, and the Rector expressed readiness to cooperate in this regard, for which we are deeply grateful.

Bearing in mind the necessity of relying on concrete data as well as on solutions implemented in other institutions, we have prepared a request containing our demands along with a number of proposed solutions regarding the valorization of scholarships. We are fully prepared for dialogue with the University Authorities and for jointly working out real changes that could contribute to improving the situation of doctoral students at the Doctoral School—placing particular emphasis on those before the mid-term evaluation, who currently receive the lowest remuneration in the amount of PLN 3,076.53 net.

With respect,
MA Kamil Rajkowski
Chair of the Doctoral Student Council
University of the National Education Commission in Kraków
