Scholarship Payment Dates
Doctoral scholarships are paid by the 15th day of each month. An exception is October, when scholarships are paid at the end of the month due to the admission of new doctoral candidates.
Information on the Amount of Doctoral Scholarships
Doctoral School of the University of National Education Commission in Kraków
The minimum professorial salary, which serves as the basis for calculating all doctoral scholarships, amounts as of January 1, 2024 to: PLN 9,370 gross.
The base rates of doctoral scholarships are calculated on the basis of 37% and 57% of this amount.

Before the mid-term evaluation: PLN 3,466.90 gross (PLN 3,076.53 net)

After the mid-term evaluation: PLN 5,340.90 gross (PLN 4,739.52 net)
For the amount of PLN 3,466.90 gross, a pension contribution of PLN 338.28 and a disability pension contribution of PLN 52.09 are deducted, resulting in PLN 3,076.53 net.
For the amount of PLN 5,340.90 gross, a pension contribution of PLN 521.83 and a disability pension contribution of PLN 80.31 are deducted, resulting in PLN 4,739.52 net.
Doctoral candidates with a certified disability receive a scholarship increased by 30% of the base rate, i.e. PLN 1,040.07 gross added to the amounts above.

For the amount of PLN 4,506.97 gross, a pension contribution of PLN 439.88 and a disability pension contribution of PLN 67.60 are deducted, resulting in PLN 3,999.49 net.
For the amount of PLN 6,380.97 gross, a pension contribution of PLN 622.78 and a disability pension contribution of PLN 95.71 are deducted, resulting in PLN 5,662.48 net.
Additional Information on Contributions
Doctoral scholarships are exempt from income tax, but contributions are deducted for:
- disability pension insurance
- pension insurance
- accident insurance
Doctoral scholarships are subject to contributions under the mandatory pension and disability pension insurance scheme. The basis for calculating social security contributions for doctoral candidates is the gross scholarship amount. The pension contribution is financed equally by the doctoral candidate and the University (9.76% each). The disability pension contribution is partly financed by the doctoral candidate (1.5% of the base) and partly by the University (6.5% of the base). The accident insurance contribution is covered entirely by the University.
